Tour Sangu in summer days -- Enjoy the sea breeze, taste seafood, visit Mazu, and listen to stories
The Sangu community is located in the Qigu District of Tainan. Legend has it that after part of the inner sea of Taijiang transformed into crop fields, three people formed a joint venture on new land to develop fish ponds and cultivate crop fields to establish the Sangu settlement. To this day, the small village maintains its traditional stores, and there are stories about the local agricultural development and coexistence with the land. The Headquarters of Taijiang National Park holds the "Tour Sangu in summer days -- Enjoy the sea breeze, taste seafood, visit Mazu, and listen to stories" event to invite visitors to experience the local seafood, history, and culture and appreciate the natural ecology and landscape of Qigu on a bicycle tour.
Sangu is a neighborhood protection community inside Qigu of Taijiang National Park. The community has developed its community tour program under the counseling of the Headquarters and explored the special characteristics of people, events, and objects from the traditional customs at the settlement, residents' daily routines, and economic activities to construct the context of community development and preserve the community's traditions and create value. The community tour brings visitors to the Sangu community of Qigu to listen to stories about its carp fish pond, Chinese zodiac at incense shops to get rid of bad luck, rice mill, the manifestation of Mazu, and the people and the land, all of which enrich the breadth and depth of people's understanding of the land. The community tour also offers an oyster opening workshop conducted by oyster farmers, which shows visitors the structure of oysters and the farming process, and everyone gets to taste the local delicacies.
A bicycle trip to see the natural scenery of Qigu is added to the community tour: Dingtoue Sandbank and the westernmost point of Taiwan, Guosheng Lighthouse. There are coastal plants in the Sandbank area. Visitors get to see how the beautiful flowers there enrooting in a difficult situation demonstrate their vitality and positive energy, which enrich our spirituality. Visitors get to enjoy the sunset view at Qigu to close a fruitful day trip.
The Sangu community has collaborated with the Headquarters to introduce a tour package valued at NT$400 per person (original price at NT$600). The package includes the community tour, experience working with oyster farmers, and delicious meals. Visitors get the opportunity to support the local tradition and innovation.
