Upholding the project ideal of “Homeland Guardian”, Taijian National Park has been assisting surrounding communities in development and improvement and working with them to build community highlights, in the hope to create the fields for ecological tour development and environmental education in Taijian National Park, the services bases for resources sustainability and preservation, and the foundation for promoting the development of surrounding communities. Meanwhile, by revitalizing surrounding tourist attractions, the national park can also achieve the goals of preserving park resources and assisting surrounding communities in overall development, and thus promote and deepen the national park’s ideal of sustainable environment management.
In 2020, Taijian National Park worked with the Xiangong community to set up an observation deck, stair platform, and road lights by the landscape pond near Luermen Tianhou Gong (Mazu Temple). After the joint structure of the area is organized, the community named the area Longyu Park, which may be used by the community and the general public for recreational and leisure purposes, or by surrounding elementary schools as a teaching place. Subsequently, the community also invited teachers and students of Chia Nan University of Pharmacy and Science to take part in painting the curbstones of the road. Kids from Tainan Municipal Sixth Preschool served as little volunteers during the construction of the park; they even held an outdoor graduation ceremony in the park.
Working with Lu'er community, Taijian National Park renovated the plaza of the narrow gauge train station in Shuishang, paved the plaza with reinforced concrete, underpinned the plaza with concrete piles, repaired and painted the existing narrow gauge train, and replaced the ties. According to the community, the place used to be on the route of locomotives which ran from Lu'er community, the terminal station, all the way to Yongkang, transporting materials for constructing the plant of Zhongyuan Soda Industrial Co., Ltd. (i.e., the present China Petrochemical Development Corporation An-Shun Plant). The railway was demolished after the various highways were successively opened to the public between the 1960s and 1970s. After this renovation, the place is intended by the community to become the travel information station and industry marketing center. In addition to serving as a landmark for the community, the place is intended to bring about the development of tourism and industry for the community.
