“Taijian National Park 2021 Holiday Bazaar” assumes a new look by improving some little implementation problems based on the experience last year.

Last year, we set up stalls in the square in front of the visitor center on a summer day; the scorching sun made the community vendors sweltering and visiting tourists perspiring profusely. This year, we set up the stalls along the avenue lined with bead trees; the cool breeze was pleasant for everyone.

Last year, we set up European-style tents, which blocked the sight of tourists and deterred them. This year, we opted for refreshing and elegant parasols, which offer a shade without blocking the sight, making it easier for tourists to get around.

Last year, we marked the stalls with a square hard signboard, which is not flexible for application and not suitable for use with parasols. This year, we opted for strings of custom cloth flags, which can be hung under the parasols or tied to the side of the table, adding a bit of casualness to the market!

We appreciated Sangu, Chengxi, Lu'er, and Yantian communities for participation in April; we also invited the Shifen community to join our Holiday Bazaar from May onward. Xianren Tea Shop, a small coffee and tea shop run by local youth who returned to their home town, features a characteristic storefront stands out in the traditional settlement. Hopefully those who come for the rare guest black-faced spoonbills or the superb view of sandbars will also take a turn into the settlement to explore the customs unique to the west border.

The Holiday Bazaar in May and June were called off due to the heightening of the COVID-19 pandemic alert level. Despite so, we still fully expect that the Holiday Bazaars will bring the Guardian Circle communities together to jointly market local agricultural and fishery products and the industrial culture.
