Luermen River
Introduction
Historic navigation routes from Taiwan to Dongji Islet, Penghu include: the main routes from Fujian to Taiwan during the period of large-scale migration, the route that Koxinga sailed when he occupied Taiwan, the main shipping routes used by the migrants from China in the Qing Dynasty and the “black ditch” navigation route, each representing a different period in Taiwan’s history and having more than their fair share of sunken vessels. Strategically located, “Luermen” became the main navigation route of the Cigu area in the Qing Dynasty and was known as “Taiwan’s throat.
