What can we do for you?
  • Taiwan’s salt farming industry first developed in the coastal area of Tainan when the Han Chinese arrived upon the main island. When Taiwan was under Japanese rule, an increasing demand for industrial salt in Japan led to a large-scale development of salt fields in Taiwan. The development of the salt farming industry brought diversity to the natural ecology of the environment. From this, it can be seen that the salt industry of Taijiang has not only played an important role in the history of Taiwan’s industrial development, it has also left behind a precious cultural asset and an ecological haven.
