Luermen Matsu Temple The Luermen Matsu Temple is situated in Tainan City’s Annan District. It is devoted to the worship of the Goddess Matsu. The Goddess worshiped here is also called the “Luermen Matsu”.
Sinopec Anshun Factory Japanese-style Dormitory Area As part of its “Caring for Rural Townships” program, Sinopec organized a hands-on graffiti lesson for local students from 5 rural township schools located within Annan District. Together, the students converted a 67-meter metal-sheet fence into a public art work with a local flair, adding yet another interesting page to the history of the dormitory area.
Former Anshun Salt Factory Site Anshun Salt Factory is a Taiwanese salt farm that was established in 1919, when Taiwan was still under Japanese rule. It was a fairly large-scale salt farm, which cut its own water channel to facilitate the transportation of salt. It closed officially in 1994, and now functions as a salt industry cultural ecology display-cum-activity area.
Sicao Dazhong Temple This temple is dedicated to "Marshal Zhenhai" (commonly known as ‘The Lord of Abandoned Souls’). It is said that he was a Taiwanese man called Chen You, who grew up around the Beifang Shibadong region in Tainan (now near Puji Temple, Puji Street, West Central District, Tainan City). He is said to be the first Taiwanese person to be deified.
Sicao Artillery Fort Sicao Artillery Fort is also commonly known as Zhenhai Fort, and is a historic site. The cannons have been damaged or destroyed, and only the fort wall (118.6m long) remains as part of the perimeter wall of Zhenhai Elementary School. Peer through the red brick cannon embrasures and take a trip back in time.
