Let us explore the secrets to flying, foraging, inhabiting, and nesting for the black-faced spoonbills

Spring is the season for migratory birds in Taijiang to return north. This is also a good time to appreciate birds molting their feathers. We will watch the beauty of black-faced spoonbills and explore their secret on March 28.

As the Taijiang area is located on the migration route, tens of thousands of migratory birds traveling south or spending the winter here in autumn and winter can be seen. According to surveys, there have been more than three hundred species of birds discovered in the park, including more than sixty conservation species. Among them, the most precious one is the endangered black-faced spoonbill, which has attracted many bird lovers at home and abroad to come to the area for bird watching and research. In order to help the public know more about the characteristics, behaviors, and migration routes of black-faced spoonbills and understand the relationship between wetland migratory birds and the environment in Taijiang, the learning-by-doing approach is adopted to let everyone experience the hardships the birds need to endure during nesting. The Headquaters of Taijiang National Park has introduced Happy Exploration activities for visitors to appreciate and learn more about these birds. Conservation education will no longer be just an imagination, but actual daily practice.

The event will be held on the morning of March 28, 2020. It will be NT$100 per person and is limited to 36 participants. Parents are encouraged to bring their children for this outdoor fun to revisit black-faced spoonbills and feel the beauty of ecology in their hearts. The event will start registration at 10:00 on March 9.
