Celebrating the Year of the Black-faced Spoonbill, Auspicious Spring Festival Blessings from Taijiang National Park

Taijiang National Park is home to expansive fishpond wetlands, serving as a primary wintering habitat and foraging area for the black-faced spoonbill. Over the years, the Taijiang National Park Headquarters (TJNP) has been actively promoting the conservation of the black-faced spoonbill, resulting in a steady increase in their population numbers. To raise awareness about these magnificent birds and the Taijiang wetlands, the TJNP will host the "Celebrating the Year of the Black-faced Spoonbill: Auspicious Spring Festival Blessings from Taijiang National Park" event on January 14, 2023. Everyone is invited to join at the Black-faced Spoonbill Bird-Watching Pavilion in Qigu, where participants can create traditional red envelopes and spring couplets using woodblock prints featuring the Black-faced Spoonbill.

In recent years, the black-faced spoonbill has become a symbol of conservation at Taijiang National Park and a key image in Tainan tourism. As the Spring Festival approaches, the TJNP invites everyone to celebrate the New Year with festive activities centered around the black-faced spoonbill. Nine auspicious spring couplets and red envelope designs will be offered for participants to print by hand at the event in Qigu, promoting the protection of the black-faced spoonbill and a happy and prosperous new year in Taiwan. This event aims to integrate the Taijiang identity and creativity into the joyous and traditional customs of the festival season.

Those interested in participating should come to the "Black-faced Spoonbill Bird-Watching Pavilion in Qigu" on the day of the event, which will run from 10 AM to 4 PM. Each participant can print two red envelopes or one spring couplet.
