Support Ecological Conservation with Your Wallet! Exclusive to Taijiang National Park - New “Black-faced Spoonbill Brand” Products Now Available!
To preserve the “harmonious coexistence of humans and nature” that characterizes the aquaculture landscape of Taijiang, the Taijiang National Park Headquarters (TJNP) has recently collaborated with local fishery operators to create eco-friendly habitats in private fishponds. These habitats are designed to provide a safe foraging environment for the black-faced spoonbill during the winter migratory period. In these fishponds, water levels are adjusted, chemicals are not used, bycatch is not harvested, and birds are not disturbed, all part of eco-friendly measures that qualify the produced aquacultural products to bear the national park conservation brand - “Black-faced Spoonbill Brand” trademark.
Today (June 16th), marks the launch of the “Black-faced Spoonbill Brand” trademark eco-friendly products for 2023, where 5 fishermen and 19 products have been honored with the dual authorization to use the Black-faced Spoonbill trademark and wetland emblem for this year. In addition to presenting these eco-friendly goods and the fishermen, the event also featured Chef Tsai Ruei-Cheng from the Michelin Guide Bib Gourmand-recommended Dongxiang Taiwanese Cuisine Restaurant, who used Black-faced Spoonbill branded seafood in dishes such as baked whiteleg shrimp with pepper and salt and clams cooked with mushrooms and tea, showcasing culinary mastery in demonstrations. To make these Black-faced Spoonbill branded products easily accessible to consumers, TJNP Visitor Center’s “Fun Taijiang” shop has set up an “Taijiang Exclusive - Black-faced Spoonbill Brand Sales Area.” The public is encouraged to support the conservation of the black-faced spoonbill and other waterfowl through their purchases, contributing to ecological conservation efforts.
On the day the products were launched, visitors at the venue reacted enthusiastically to the products certified as eco-friendly and cultivated in the pristine seawaters of Qigu District. Many items were quickly sold out. TJNP notes that from today, in addition to purchasing directly at the shop, the public may also order online directly from the source via the "Black-faced Spoonbill Brand Information Platform." It is hoped that this pioneering national park brand will help add value to local aquaculture products, enabling consumer power to support ecological conservation, and gradually create a complete green map of eco-friendly habitats in Taijiang, ensuring that the black-faced spoonbill and other international migratory species can rest and forage safely in the greater Taijiang area!
