Taijiang National Park Welcomes the Lunar New Year with Joy and Prosperity: Dragon-Themed Festivities Delight All Taijiang National Park's 2024 Lunar New Year Celebration Kicks Off with Two-Day Event at Beishanwei Luermen Matsu Temple
Taijiang National Park Headquarters of the National Park Service, Ministry of the Interior, is kicking off its 2024 Lunar New Year series of events with a two-day celebration in collaboration with Beishanwei Luerhmen Tianhou Temple. Scheduled for February 10th and 11th (the first and second days of the Lunar New Year), the festivities will take place from 8:30 AM to 11:30 AM at the forecourt of Mazu Temple. Participants can exchange completed couplet surveys for a commemorative gift, with a daily limit of 350 gifts available on a first-come, first-served basis, restricted to one per person.
This year, the Mazu Temple event continues the tradition of offering the popular Beishanwei Mazu Commemorative Coin as a keepsake. The coin features a serene and dignified Mazu, the temple's main deity, with peonies, symbolizing her merciful grace and prosperity in the Year of the Dragon. The reverse side showcases the jumping carp concept, representing this year's theme animal, the milkfish, and the image of Taijiang National Park. The milkfish, epitomizing the century-old local industry, is also closely associated with the national park's waterbird conservation efforts. Attendees are encouraged to appreciate not only the culinary delights of milkfish but also its cultural, historical, and conservation significance.
Participants are advised to wear masks throughout the event and follow the instructions of the onsite staff for queuing and exchanging the couplet questionnaires for commemorative coins. Additionally, there will be adorable balloon models given away, crafted on-site by professional artists, available from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM, limited to one per person.
For those interested in collecting the commemorative coins but unable to attend the event on the first and second days of the Lunar New Year, purchases will be available starting from the third day of the Lunar New Year (February 12th, 2024) at the Taijiang National Park Visitor Center Store Fun Taijiang. A limited quantity of 400 sets will be available, with a purchase limit of two sets per person, priced at 250 NT$ per set, available while stocks last.
