Taijiang National Park to Remain Open During Lunar New Year: A Great Destination for Family Outings
As the Lunar New Year holiday approaches, Taijiang National Park's four visitor centers will remain open, providing a great destination for holiday outings!
Taijiang National Park, Taiwan’s first wetland national park, features a visitor center in the Sicao area of Tainan City. The park's architecture includes distinctive stilted buildings in pristine white, set against vast waterscapes. The interplay of mist, water, and vegetation creates breathtaking views. During the holiday, the visitor center will offer recreational consultations, scheduled tours, and video screenings, inviting guests to appreciate the beauty of the Taijiang wetlands and eco-friendly green architecture.
Visitors can also explore the nearby Anping area during the "2024 Taiwan Lantern Festival in Tainan," where the river and landscape are ingeniously used to craft distinct lighting zones. Must-see attractions include Anping Fort and Anping Old Street, or venture to the Sicao and Qigu regions for ecological tours on recreational fishing rafts or temple visits. These activities offer a deeper understanding of the wetlands' natural ecology, the history of Han Chinese migration to Taiwan, and the local fisheries and salt industries, fostering a meaningful connection with the national park.
Visitors are also encouraged to visit the Anshun Salt Fields at the "Anshun Salt Field Story House." Enjoy the warm sun and stroll through the salt village to admire the traditional sun-drying salt process. Daily guided tours and consultation services are available, and visitors can register on-site to participate in a live-action puzzle game, offering a deep dive into the cultural and historical heritage of the century-old salt fields.
Winter is a vital season for migratory birds in Taijiang, and a must-see highlight is the arrival of the seasonal black-faced spoonbill! Situated in Qigu, the "Black-faced Spoonbill Birdwatching Pavilion" will be open throughout the Lunar New Year holidays, with the exception of New Year's Eve. The pavilion offers daily interpretive services and recreational guidance, complete with high-magnification telescopes for ecological observation. Interpreter guides at the Taijiang National Park provide warm and professional explanations, helping both adults and children appreciate these delicate winter guests in Taiwan. Visitors can also stop by the "Liukong Service Station & Visitor Center" in Qigu to watch ecological films and delve deeper into the fascinating migration of the black-faced spoonbill.
A gentle reminder: during the holiday season, the roads leading to recreational areas and tourist attractions within Taijiang National Park are expected to see increased traffic. The Seventh Division of the Seventh Special Police Corps of the Ministry of the Interior and the Tainan City Government Police Department will manage traffic flow and maintain order in parking areas on certain sections. Visitors are encouraged to follow on-site traffic guidance measures and check traffic information before departing. Using public transportation is recommended for a joyful family outing.
