Taijiang National Park Headquarters Partners with Enterprises for Green Procurement to Join Forces in Ecological Conservation
The Taijiang National Park Headquarters (TJNPH) has authorized a total of 35 aquaculture products and 5 ecotourism services from "Eco-Friendly Habitat Fish Ponds" in 2024. To further promote and advertise these Black-faced Spoonbill eco-friendly habitat products, TJNPH hosted a networking and green procurement exhibition today (August 28th) for eco-friendly habitat construction partners. The event invited enterprises with ESG and SDGs needs, as well as restaurants, hotels, and retailers with green procurement requirements, to participate. This gathering aimed to inform participants about the Black-faced Spoonbill branded products authorized for 2024 and the principles behind eco-friendly habitat construction, with the hope of fostering more green procurement actions, building a green map of Taijiang's eco-friendly habitats, and maintaining biodiversity.
Director Hsieh Wei-Song of the Taijiang National Park Headquarters stated that the primary purpose of establishing the Taijiang National Park is to conserve the habitats of international migratory species like the Black-faced Spoonbill and to preserve the wetland ecological environment, thus maintaining biodiversity. The eco-friendly habitats and Black-faced Spoonbill branded products align with several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including Quality Education (SDG 4), Clean Water and Sanitation (SDG 6), Decent Work and Economic Growth (SDG 8), Responsible Consumption and Production (SDG 12), Life on Land (SDG 15), and Partnerships for the Goals (SDG 17). In recent years, in line with the government’s net-zero emissions policy, corporations are increasingly expected to fulfill their social responsibilities and contribute to achieving ESG and SDG objectives. Companies like MSIG Mingtai Insurance and Jebsee Electronics have recently expressed interest in collaborating with Taijiang National Park Headquarters by signing respective memorandum of understandings (MOU) to manage key black-faced spoonbill habitats. These partnerships aim to inject resources into the creation of eco-friendly habitats and promote conservation efforts within the national park. This collaboration is expected to strengthen public-private partnerships and generate mutual benefits for all involved.
At today's event (28th), several fisheries operators who have earned the Black-faced Spoonbill brand, including Qigu Nanwan Marine Ecology Farm, Yuti Eco Aqua, Guanteng Aqua, Huang Fen-Hsiang Aqua Farm, and Mei Liu Aqua, were invited to share their stories about sustainable aquaculture, Black-faced Spoonbill branded aquaculture products, and the distinctive aspects of their ecotourism services. In addition, local farmers who embrace habitat conservation principles, such as Guantian Jacana Water Chestnut, Blessed Manor , and Little Kindness Farm, were also in attendance. Promoters of green tourism experiences, including cofishland and Tripbaa Travel Agency, participated by setting up booths. The Place Tainan’s hotel master chef prepared dishes using local agricultural and fishery products from Tainan, focusing on simple cooking methods that accentuate the natural flavors of the seafood, allowing attendees to appreciate the superior quality of Black-faced Spoonbill branded products.
The TJNPH stated that ecological conservation and maintaining biodiversity are responsibilities that everyone should fulfill. The public can support fishermen partners through green consumption by ordering directly from fishermen online via the "Happy Spoonbill Platform." Enterprises, driven by ESG principles, can amplify their social responsibility and influence by joining as ecological conservation partners. This collaboration helps promote ecological conservation and mutual benefits in the industry while using the national park brand to add value to local agricultural and fishery products, creating a mutually beneficial vision for Taijiang National Park Headquarters, local fishermen, and enterprises, contributing to sustainable environmental development.
