Explore Taijiang During Lunar New Year of 2025 Taijiang National Park’s 2025 Lunar New Year Event Kicks Off on Lunar New Year’s Day Beishanwei Luermen Mazu Temple

The Taijiang National Park Headquarters of the National Park Service, Ministry of the Interior (hereinafter referred to as “Taijiang National Park Headquarters”) will kick off its 2025 Lunar New Year events with a special event held jointly with Beishanwei Luermen Mazu Temple (hereinafter referred to as “Mazu Temple”). This event will take place on January 29, 2025 (Lunar New Year’s Day), from 8:30 AM to 11:30 AM, in the temple’s front plaza. Visitors are invited to learn more about Taijiang National Park, and they can complete a questionnaire to redeem a commemorative gift (limited to 700 pieces, one per person, available while supplies last).

The annual Taijiang National Park Lunar New Year events attracts many participants. The event to be held at Mazu Temple this year features a Beishanwei Mazu Commemorative Coin. The front of the coin depicts the gracious and dignified Mazu statue enshrined in the temple, alongside a moth orchid, which symbolizes happiness and good fortune. The design conveys the auspicious message of "a turn in fortune for the better" and blessings from Mazu. The reverse side features the flowers of a white-flowered black mangrove blooming along the water’s edge, highlighting this year’s theme—the connection between the white-flowered black mangrove and Taijiang National Park. The Taijiang region has the largest number of white-flowered black mangrove in Taiwan. This plant plays a crucial role in shoreline stabilization and is widely used in salt marsh greening projects due to its high salt tolerance.

As a reminder, this first event will be held only on Lunar New Year’s Day (January 29, 2025). To ensure fairness in gift distribution, no placeholders (such as personal belongings) will be allowed in line. Please follow instructions from the on-site staff to line up for the Spring Festival questionnaire, which must be completed to receive a commemorative coin. After receiving the coin, visitors may take home the Spring Festival couplets for display. The event will also feature an exhibition on Taijiang National Park and balloon giveaways. A professional artist will create custom balloons on-site, with each visitor limited to one balloon. The balloon giveaway will take place from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM.

Visitors who wish to collect the commemorative coin but cannot attend the event on Lunar New Year’s Day may purchase it at Taijiang National Park Visitor Center’s gift shop, “Explore Taijiang,” starting from January 31, 2025 (the third day of the Lunar New Year) while supplies last. Only 400 sets will be available, with a purchase limit of two sets per person at NT$250 per set.
