Updated Accessible Facilities at Taijiang National Park’s Wangzailiao Sandbar Announced!

To enhance the environmental friendliness of Taijiang National Park, the Taijiang National Park Headquarters has been actively promoting the “National Parks Comprehensive Accessibility Improvement Plan” initiated by the Ministry of the Interior. In addition to routine maintenance and management of accessible facilities, funding is allocated annually to upgrade existing accessible facilities to ensure a higher-quality travel experience for visitors with disabilities.

In 2020, after years of renovations by Taijiang National Park Headquarters, the accessible facilities at Wangzailiao Sandbar were fully upgraded. On April 16, 2020, the Ministry of the Interior announced (through an official letter coded as Nei-Shou-Ying-Yuan-No. 1090806873) the trail at the sandbar to be an accessible activity area. However, over the years, strong waves and typhoons has led to the erosion of the sandbar, threatening existing facilities and windbreaks. In particular, Typhoon Doksuri in 2023 caused severe damage to the accessible trail.

To ensure visitor safety and provide a high-quality recreational space, Taijiang National Park Headquarters launched a trail and facility improvement project at the end of 2023. The original trail route was adjusted, and functional deficiencies in existing facilities were addressed. The renovations were completed in April 2024, and the entire trail officially reopened in mid-June 2024. On November 29, 2024, the Ministry of the Interior announced (through an official letter coded as Nei-Shou-Ying-Yuan No. 1131280536) that the accessible activity area at Wangzailiao Sandbar of Taijiang National Park was updated. The new facilities include accessible trails, guide signs, and rest platforms, all interconnected by accessible trails to create a visitor-friendly recreational environment.
