An Shun Salt Pan was invested and developed by the Taiwan Salt Production Company in 1919. It was the most advanced salt pan back then. Now, it is an important cultural historic site of the salt industry in modern Taiwan and serves as the preservation and legacy of history and culture. That’s how the Salt Pan Eco Village was founded.
The Salt Pan Eco Village preserves special buildings such as municipal monuments and salt pans. It is adjacent to an ecological reserve, and contains plentiful natural ecological and cultural resources. To promote the cultural and ecological environmental education of the salt industry, the Village managed the construction of buildings within the Village and its surroundings, road improvement, a lookout deck, pavilion, diverse education classroom, and environmental education venues from 2020 to 2022. These are used to manage the space for salt industry exhibitions and the promotion of ecological education. These places will become important recreational spots in the Village. They are expected to be completed by the end of 2022.
In addition to the improvement of buildings, surrounding facilities, and establishment of fixed introduction exhibitions of the salt pan culture and ecological resource, various interactive games have been designed, such as themed board games and salt industry culture reality escape games. It is expected that through these games people will deeply remember the ecological resources, history and culture of the Salt Pan Eco Village.
