Qigu Lagoon is the largest lagoon in Taiwan, and the sandbank blocks the external waves, making the wind and waves inside the lagoon relatively calm. Moreover, since the tide mouth is still affected by the tidal cycle, it has become a good field for species growth, and fishermen utilize environmental advantages to grow oysters and fish, forming a unique industrial and cultural landscape.

In order to let the public learn more about the largest lagoon in Taiwan, Taijiang Office specially held the “Lagoon Tour” event, which lets visitors tour the lagoon, sightsee the oyster fields, walk on the sandbank and observe the ecology by boat. Visitors can listen to the local captains to share stories about their inner sea live, living and the ecology, and let the captains lead them to Wangzailiao sandbank to learn about the beauty and sadness of living on the sandbank. Finally, we hope that all visitors can take action together to protect the sandbank environment of the inner sea better.

The event is held on the morning of September 26, 2010 and the fee is TWD400 per person (this fee including ship fares, insurance and meals), the maximum number of places is 20 people. We welcome all parent-child families to go outdoors together, reacquaint themselves with Qigu Lagoon, and take actions of protecting the environment for clean beaches. Registration opens at 14:00 P.M. on September 10, and people who want to attend this event, please check the Taijiang National Park website.
