Fun Rafting on Qigu Lagoon (Wangzailiao Barrier Island)

Qigu Lagoon was formed as a result of sediment deposits that settled at the bottom of the inland sea of old Taijiang. Local fishermen made use of this natural resource to farm fish and oysters, giving rise to a unique aquaculture industry.

Qigu Mangrove Forest
Qigu Mangrove Forest

Qigu Mangrove Forest is situated where the Sangu River and Qigu River flow into the Qigu Lagoon. The confluence of land and water brings nutrient-rich sediment deposits to the mangrove forest, which teams with intertidal organisms. This mangrove forest is mostly populated by Avicennia marina, and some Kandelia obovate.
